
In the afternoon of the first day of his economic tour of Casamance, the President of the Republic visited the construction site of Ziguinchor Airport, located in the NEMA district.
At the end of the visit, the Head of State expressed his satisfaction with the effective resumption of the works, made possible by the State’s financial commitment, which injected 7 billion CFA francs to restart the project and ensure completion scheduled for April 2026. In addition, an extra allocation of 6 billion CFA francs has been provided for in the 2026 supplementary finance law.
The President of the Republic recalled that Ziguinchor is a region with very strong potential, particularly in the agricultural, tourism, artistic and overall economic sectors, and that the commissioning of this strategic infrastructure will contribute to opening up the area, enhancing its attractiveness and boosting the regional economy.
This visit reflects the State’s unwavering determination to see major structural projects through to completion, in compliance with deadlines, in the service of balanced territorial development and improved mobility for the population.
