The President of the Republic, His Excellency Mr. Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye, was warmly welcomed on July 15, 2025, in Cotonou by his Beninese counterpart, President Patrice Talon.
Following military honors at the Presidential Palace, the two Heads of State held a one-on-one meeting, followed by a joint press statement.
President Faye reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening the historic fraternal ties between Senegal and Benin, proposing, in particular, the upcoming convening of a Joint Commission to enhance economic and commercial exchanges between the two countries.
In addition to bilateral issues, the two Presidents discussed the situation of sub-regional organizations, particularly ECOWAS and UEMOA. They reiterated their commitment to working together to make these institutions more aligned with the aspirations and expectations of the people in the sub-region.
