Today, the President of the Republic, His Excellency Bassirou Diomaye Faye, attended the production of the first barrels of oil at the Sangomar platform, marking a historic milestone for Senegal in the oil industry. This visit included Mrs. Meg O’Neill, CEO of Woodside Energy, the Minister of Energy, Oil and Mines, Birame Souleye DIOP, the Minister of Armed Forces, General Birame Diop, and the Director General of PETROSEN, Thierno Seydou LY. The Sangomar field, located about 100 km south of Dakar, is a result of exemplary collaboration between Woodside Energy and the Senegalese Petroleum Company (PETROSEN) and is projected to produce 100,000 barrels per day from an estimated 630 million barrels of crude oil reserves.
