The President of the Republic today opened the General States of Public Transport at the CICAD, a crucial step to reinvent the transport system in Senegal. In light of challenges such as road safety issues, persistent traffic jams, and inadequate infrastructure, decisive action is needed.
In his speech, President Bassirou Diomaye Faye emphasized that road insecurity is not inevitable but a result of human shortcomings, requiring collective introspection. He also highlighted the importance of inclusive dialogue to modernize infrastructure and build a safer, more resilient public transport system that incorporates new technologies. These consultations aim to establish a clear roadmap to address these challenges and enhance the country’s economic competitiveness through sustainable solutions, including railway development and West African corridors.
