Press releases - 2026 February 05

After visiting the agricultural operations of the Yellitaare Group, the President of the Republic continued his economic and strategic tour with a visit to the Tambacounda Air Base, a key platform within the national defense system.
In a regional security context marked by multiple and evolving challenges, this strategic facility illustrates the strengthening of the Air Force and the Eastern Pivot, designed to bring operational capabilities closer to sensitive areas and significantly reduce response times for the Senegalese Armed Forces. Its location enables broader territorial coverage, enhanced surveillance of strategic spaces, and stronger coordination of joint military operations.
Beyond its military role, this infrastructure contributes to the security of populations, the protection of economic infrastructure, and the stability essential to development. It reflects a clear vision of national defense based on anticipation, responsiveness, and sovereignty.
Through this visit, the Head of State reaffirms that security is an inseparable foundation of development, and that the strengthening of national capabilities is a strategic choice in the service of peace, stability, and prosperity in Senegal.
