On this day, the President of the Republic received Professor Tanaka Akihiko, President of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), in an audience aimed at strengthening bilateral relations between Senegal and Japan.

This meeting provided an opportunity to reaffirm the robustness of the partnership between the two nations and to highlight several priority areas of cooperation:

  • The construction of the annex to the Senegal–Japan Training Center in Diamniadio, a flagship project for the development of skills and vocational training;
  • The approval by the Japanese government of an ambitious agricultural program in Casamance, a region already supported by Japanese cooperation through the provision of two demining machines;
  • The growing interest of the Japanese private sector in investment opportunities in Senegal, particularly in the fields of energy, hydraulics, digital technology, health, and agriculture.

During the discussions, the President of the Republic emphasized Senegal’s key strengths, including its political stability, the attractiveness of its business environment, and its strategic geographical position, positioning the country as a privileged gateway to West Africa and the broader African continent.

This audience reflects the shared commitment of both parties to strengthen dynamic cooperation focused on training, innovation, and sustainable development, for the benefit of the Senegalese and Japanese populations.
