The President of the Republic, His Excellency Mr. Bassirou Diomaye Faye, accompanied by a large delegation, visited Yoff today to extend condolences on behalf of the Senegalese nation to the Layène community following the passing of Serigne Mouhamadou Makhtar Laye, General Khalifa of the Layènes.
During the visit, the Head of State paid a heartfelt tribute to the memory of this exceptional spiritual leader, commending his unwavering commitment to peace, faith, and national unity. President Faye highlighted the profound legacy left by Serigne Mouhamadou Makhtar Laye, whose spiritual and social influence has deeply marked Senegal.
President Faye also expressed his support for the new General Khalifa, Seydina Mouhamadou Lamine Laye, offering his best wishes for success in his mission. He reaffirmed the Republic’s commitment to maintaining ongoing and fruitful dialogue with the country’s religious communities, in a spirit of collaboration and mutual respect.
