Following the opening plenary session of the Africa Forward Summit, President Bassirou Diomaye Faye held talks with Ms. Kristalina Georgieva, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
The discussion focused primarily on the debt situation and possible pathways toward a solution. The Head of State provided a detailed overview of the measures undertaken by Senegal to mitigate the shocks stemming from the conflict in the Middle East, particularly the rise in energy costs and its impact on the national economy.
Both parties agreed to continue discussions within the framework of IMF technical missions. This is a matter that the President is personally overseeing and to which he is dedicating full attention, in search of the best possible outcome for Senegal and its people.
