At the invitation of His Excellency William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya, the Head of State, His Excellency Bassirou Diomaye Faye, participated this Monday morning at Ithookwe Stadium in Kitui County in the official celebrations of Heroes’ Day (Mashujaa Day).

Celebrated every October 20, Heroes’ Day holds a central place in Kenya’s national memory. It pays tribute to the women and men who have shaped the country’s history through their courage, patriotism, and commitment to freedom and progress.

As the guest of honor at this edition, President Bassirou Diomaye Faye was seated alongside Her Excellency Maria Benvinda Levy, Prime Minister of Mozambique, members of the Kenyan government, the diplomatic corps, and senior civil and military authorities.



In his address, the Head of State paid tribute to the memory of Kenyan and African heroes, emphasizing that “celebrating our heroes means preserving our history and strengthening our future.” He also advocated for African synergy around collective memory through education, research, and the promotion of the continent’s figures of resistance and liberation.

The solemn ceremony, marked by civilian and military parades, cultural performances, and symbolic tributes, provided an opportunity for President Bassirou Diomaye Faye to reaffirm, through his presence, the deep bonds of friendship and brotherhood between Senegal 🇸🇳 and Kenya 🇰🇪, two nations united in their commitment to a sovereign, united, and proud Africa rooted in its heritage.
