
On the occasion of his State visit to the Republic of Rwanda, the President of the Republic, His Excellency Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye, paid his respects at the Kigali Genocide Memorial, a place of remembrance and dignity dedicated to the victims of the genocide perpetrated against the Tutsi. This solemn moment of reflection underscored the importance of the duty of memory, justice, and reconciliation as essential foundations for lasting peace.

The Head of State was then received at the Kigali Presidential Palace by His Excellency Paul Kagame, President of the Republic of Rwanda. Following the military honors ceremony, the two Heads of State held a one-on-one meeting, followed by an expanded working session with the Senegalese and Rwandan delegations. The discussions, marked by fraternity and shared perspectives, focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation and diversifying strategic partnerships between the two countries.
At the conclusion of this meeting, five cooperation agreements were signed, covering: • Visa exemptions for holders of diplomatic, service, and ordinary passports; • Cooperation in planning and monitoring development programs; • Partnership in the field of agriculture; • Partnership in the field of health; • Collaboration in correctional services and penitentiary matters.
This State visit marks a significant step in consolidating the bonds of friendship and cooperation between Senegal and Rwanda, reflecting the shared commitment of both countries to build an exemplary partnership based on solidarity, efficiency, and a common vision for development.
