State Visit: President Faye Honored in Guinea-Bissau

As part of his state visit to the Republic of Guinea-Bissau, His Excellency Mr. Bassirou Diomaye Faye, President of the Republic of Senegal, was received with protocol honors by His Excellency Mr. Umaro Sissoco Embaló, President of the Republic of Guinea-Bissau.


During bilateral talks and a joint press conference, the two heads of state reaffirmed the strength of the historical and fraternal ties uniting the Senegalese and Bissau-Guinean peoples. President Faye expressed his deep gratitude for the exceptional welcome extended to him and reiterated Senegal’s unwavering commitment to supporting Guinea-Bissau in its efforts toward peace, stability, and sustainable development.

For his part, President Embaló emphasized the depth of bilateral relations, rooted in a shared history predating Guinea-Bissau’s independence. He stated: “No country is more committed to the peace, stability, and development of Guinea-Bissau than Senegal.”



On the occasion of this visit, President Bassirou Diomaye Faye was honored with the Amílcar Cabral Medal, the highest distinction of the Republic of Guinea-Bissau. This award recognizes his resolute commitment to strengthening the privileged ties between the two nations, promoting regional integration, and fostering solidarity among brotherly peoples, as well as his contribution to the stability of the sub-region.
