On July 24, 2025, Senegal officially joined the Artemis Accords, becoming the 56th country to sign this NASA-led initiative. These accords outline principles for peaceful, transparent, and responsible space exploration.
The signing took place in Washington, D.C., at NASA headquarters, attended by Mr. Maram Kaire, Director General of the Senegalese Space Studies Agency (ASES), Mr. Abdoul Wahab Haïdara, Senegal’s Ambassador to the United States, and senior U.S. officials.
This milestone marks a decisive step in Senegal’s space ambitions, following the July 9, 2025, meeting between His Excellency President Bassirou Diomaye Faye and U.S. President Donald Trump, which strengthened bilateral cooperation, particularly in science and innovation.
Through the Artemis Accords, Senegal reaffirms its commitment to multilateral scientific diplomacy, promoting peace, knowledge, and humanity’s sustainable development.
