Senegal–EBRD Cooperation: Towards a Stronger Partnership

International - 2026 May 12

President Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye received in audience a delegation from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), led by its President, Ms. Odile Renaud-Basso.

Recently established in Senegal, the EBRD has already begun to make a concrete impact on the ground, through the recruitment of its local teams and the financing of key structural projects. Chief among these is the desalination plant developed with ACWA Power, which is expected to significantly strengthen water security in Greater Dakar, as well as support for the national private sector and the backing of several initiatives in the renewable energy sector.

During the meeting, the institution expressed to the Head of State its intention to elevate its commitment to a more ambitious level, substantially strengthening its interventions in support of the Senegalese economy. This momentum is fully aligned with the priorities set out in the Senegal Vision 2050 and is expected, over time, to deliver tangible benefits for the Senegalese people.
