On the occasion of Senegal Day at the Osaka-Kansai 2025 World Expo, His Excellency Mr. Bassirou Diomaye Faye, President of the Republic of Senegal, celebrated on Monday, August 25, 2025, the depth of bilateral relations between Senegal and Japan, marked by 65 years of exemplary cooperation. He also chaired the International Economic Forum, attended by senior officials, investors, and strategic partners.
During his address, the Head of State highlighted Senegal’s strategic strengths, emphasizing key sectors driving the country’s growth momentum. He notably underscored the nation’s energy ambitions, with a target of achieving 40% renewable energy in the energy mix by 2030. The agro-industry was also highlighted as a priority, through the development of arable land and the promotion of local processing of agricultural products.
President Faye further addressed the development of infrastructure and digital technology, aiming to position Senegal as a regional logistics hub while enhancing connectivity. In the fields of health and innovation, he reaffirmed the government’s commitment to pharmaceutical sovereignty and the advancement of telemedicine. Finally, he praised the potential of Senegal’s human capital, driven by a qualified, dynamic, and globally engaged youth.
This sectoral overview is fully aligned with Vision Senegal 2050, which aims to build an inclusive, competitive, and resilient economy.
The President of the Republic also reiterated the government’s commitment to supporting private sector stakeholders in a reformed, stable, and attractive environment, at the core of Vision Senegal 2050.
In this context, the Head of State invited partners to Dakar on October 7 and 8, 2025, for the Invest in Senegal Forum, to forge mutually beneficial partnerships for shared growth.
