President Bassirou Diomaye Faye received His Excellency Brigadier General Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, President of the Gabonese Republic, and his wife, Mrs. Zita Oligui Nguema, at the Presidential Palace on Monday, December 2, 2024, as part of an official visit.

The two leaders held a one-on-one meeting to discuss matters of common interest. They expressed their willingness to work together to give new impetus to the Dakar-Libreville cooperation axis and elevate it to a higher level. Both parties aim to explore new opportunities to strengthen their partnership in key sectors.

Furthermore, President Faye took this opportunity to extend his warmest congratulations to his Gabonese counterpart following the approval of the new Constitution, resulting from the referendum on November 16. He praised Gabon's exemplary leadership, highlighting the impeccable conduct of the Transition, characterized by an inclusive and peaceful approach, while strictly adhering to the established timeline.

For his part, the President of Gabon expressed his satisfaction with participating in the commemoration of the Thiaroye massacre, thanking for the warm welcome he received.

Finally, President Nguema expressed his gratitude, both on his behalf and on behalf of the Gabonese people, to the Senegalese authorities for their support of their compatriot's recent election to the leadership of ASECNA, headquartered in Dakar.
