Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken met with President Bassirou Diomaye Faye

This afternoon, the President of the Republic, Mr. Bassirou Diomaye Faye, received U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken. The meeting allowed both men to commend the strong relations between Senegal and the United States and reaffirm their commitment to enhancing economic cooperation, particularly to support youth and promote transparency and anti-corruption efforts.

During the discussion, Blinken announced a $5 million USAID program to assist the Senegalese government’s efforts in these areas, which will also strengthen institutional reforms for better governance. They addressed security issues in the Sahel and conflicts in the Middle East, with the U.S. expressing readiness to support Senegal’s reform initiatives.

Additional priority sectors from Senegal’s National Transformation Agenda 2050 were identified for enhanced cooperation, including digital technology, agriculture, and industrialization. This meeting reinforces the solid partnership between Senegal and the United States, based on a shared vision for development and mutual prosperity.
