As part of the fifth day of his economic tour of Casamance, the President of the Republic officially launched the maintenance works on National Highway 6 between Ziguinchor and Diembéring, as well as on the Oussouye–Mlomp–Elinkine section.
With a total budget of 10 billion CFA francs, this project financed by the State of Senegal with the support of the West African Development Bank (BOAD) covers the departments of Ziguinchor and Oussouye. It aims to improve the level of service of the road network, enhance user safety, and facilitate both urban and interurban mobility across the region.
The works will focus on periodic and routine maintenance operations to address the most deteriorated sections, preserve road assets, and maintain an acceptable level of service pending full rehabilitation.
Through this project, the Head of State reaffirms his commitment to making road infrastructure maintenance a key lever for opening up the region, improving safety, and fostering the economic and social development of Casamance, in line with the objectives of Senegal Vision 2050.
