The President of the Republic, His Excellency Mr. Bassirou Diomaye Faye, received in audience, on Thursday, July 23, 2026, Mr. Sering Modou Njie, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of The Gambia, who conveyed a message of friendship, peace, and fraternity from His Excellency Mr. Adama Barrow, President of the Republic of The Gambia.
The Gambian envoy conveyed to the Head of State President Adama Barrow’s congratulations on his assumption of the rotating presidency of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), as well as on the appointment of General Birame Diop as President of the Commission of the regional organization.
The cordial discussions provided an opportunity to commend the excellent cooperation between Senegal and The Gambia, rooted in centuries-old ties of history, culture, and good neighbourliness that unite the Senegalese and Gambian peoples.
Both sides reaffirmed their shared commitment to further strengthening this exceptional relationship, in the service of regional integration, peace, stability, and the well-being of the peoples of Senegambia.
