Clare Akamanzi, Chief Executive Officer of NBA Africa, was received in audience by Bassirou Diomaye Faye, leading a delegation that included Mr. Amadou Gallo Fall, President of the Basketball Africa League.
Commending the Head of State’s vision for sports development and the widely recognized excellence of Senegal’s basketball tradition, the delegation advocated for a substantial strengthening of the partnership with Senegal. An agreement currently being finalized with APIX will soon provide a structured framework for this shared ambition.
The approach reflects a conviction repeatedly expressed by the Head of State: transforming sport into a true industry, closely connected with the cultural and creative industries, through an innovative economic model fully aligned with the national transformation agenda. This vision is expected to generate tangible benefits in terms of jobs, income, and international influence for both the youth and local communities.
In the near future, a decisive milestone is taking shape. Both parties now share the belief that the next edition of the Basketball Africa League could return to Dakar as early as next year.
