The President of the Republic, H.E. Mr. Bassirou Diomaye Faye, received today, at the Presidential Palace, French astronaut Thomas Pesquet, a member of the European Space Agency (ESA) Astronaut Corps, who is on a friendship visit to Senegal from July 20 to 24, 2026.
Having completed two long-duration missions aboard the International Space Station, which he commanded in 2021, Thomas Pesquet embodies scientific excellence and inspires millions of young people around the world.

His stay in Senegal included a visit to the Senegalese Space Studies Agency (ASES) and a moment of engagement with young people at the Daniel Sorano National Theatre, focusing on the promotion of space sciences.

These exchanges reinforce a conviction that guides the Head of State's actions: science, technology and innovation are pillars of sovereignty and prosperity as Senegal builds towards Vision 2050, notably through the New Deal Technologique.
