The President of the Republic, His Excellency Mr. Bassirou Diomaye Faye, today received former President Macky Sall.
Former President Sall came to personally inform the Head of State of his candidacy for the position of Secretary-General of the United Nations, following the launch of the selection process in New York on 25 November 2025.
He took the opportunity to brief the President of the Republic on the progress of his candidacy and to seek the support of his country.
Beyond the respective paths and convictions of each individual, this meeting symbolizes the continuity of the State and the enduring strength of its institutions, transcending political transitions.
The President of the Republic listened to his guest with courtesy and welcomed his démarche.
Former President Sall also undertook to keep the Head of State regularly informed at each stage of the selection process.
