
The President of the Republic, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, received this morning Ms. Francia Márquez, Vice President of the Republic of Colombia, on an official visit to Dakar. As the first Afro-descendant woman to hold this high office in her country, Ms. Márquez embodies a strong commitment to memory, social justice, and the recognition of African heritage in the Americas.
Discussions focused on strengthening the historical ties between Senegal and Colombia, with particular emphasis on cultural cooperation and issues of collective memory. Deeply committed to these matters, the Colombian Vice President expressed her willingness to develop joint initiatives in this area, drawing on the shared history of African and Afro-descendant peoples.
President Faye and his guest also discussed prospects for economic and trade cooperation, paving the way for a stronger and mutually beneficial partnership between Senegal and Colombia.
