On the sidelines of his participation in the Rencontre des Entrepreneurs de France (LaREF), where he was a special guest, the President of the Republic of Senegal, His Excellency Mr. Bassirou Diomaye Faye, held a series of meetings with leading economic and institutional stakeholders. These discussions, centered on cooperation and investment, reflect the Head of State’s commitment to positioning Senegal as a strategic destination for sustainable and value-creating partnerships.
In a context marked by global economic recovery and the pursuit of inclusive development models, President Faye engaged in targeted discussions with several French companies and institutions operating in key sectors.
Among the first meetings, the President met with Mr. Vicat, a shareholder of SOCOCIM, for an in-depth discussion on the competitiveness of the cement sector. The talks focused on reducing cement costs, ensuring its affordability for the population, and its critical role in the country’s major infrastructure projects.
In the same spirit, the Head of State met with representatives of MEDEF International, an organization of French business leaders engaged globally. This meeting provided an opportunity to explore new investment prospects while reaffirming the importance of dynamic and mutually beneficial economic cooperation.
Infrastructure was also a central focus of the discussions. The President met with Matière Sénégal, a company specializing in the construction of civil engineering structures, to discuss strategic projects such as bridges, roads, and public facilities, which are essential for mobility and territorial development.
In the field of airport services, the Lagardère Travel Retail Group, which manages the duty-free shops at Blaise Diagne International Airport (AIBD), was received to discuss service quality, pricing policies, and expansion prospects, with a focus on continuously improving the traveler experience.
The mining sector was also addressed. The President granted an audience to ERAMED Sénégal, a company committed to responsible natural resource exploitation. The discussions emphasized a sustainable approach that generates jobs and respects the environment.
Finally, the Head of State met with the NGE Group, a public works specialist, to discuss the development of strategic infrastructure and the promotion of local employment, particularly in high-growth potential areas.
Beyond economic stakeholders, President Faye also met with Mr. Jean-Noël Barrot, France’s Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, and Mr. Édouard Philippe, former French Prime Minister, for high-level discussions on bilateral relations and prospects for institutional cooperation.
These various meetings underscored Senegal’s commitment to building strong, sustainable, and transformative partnerships, in line with the objectives of the Senegal 2050 Vision and the National Transformation Plan.
