Press releases - 2026 February 05

The President of the Republic, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, today launched an economic tour in Tambacounda, covering the regions of Tambacounda and Kédougou. Upon his arrival at the airstrip, the Head of State was welcomed by administrative and territorial authorities, with full military honors, marking the start of a visit with strong economic, social, and strategic significance.

This tour is part of the ongoing efforts to achieve lasting transformation of the national economy, strengthen job creation, and harness the productive potential of every territory. By declaring 2026 the Year of Employment and the Social and Solidarity Economy, the President of the Republic has set a clear course: making employment, entrepreneurship, and local initiative the pillars of development.
Through the various stages planned in eastern Senegal, the aim is to ensure coherence between infrastructure, training, agriculture, energy, and investment, in order to provide concrete responses to the expectations of the population, particularly young people and women.

This tour reflects a strong conviction: it is on the ground, in close contact with local realities and economic and social stakeholders, that a more productive, more inclusive Senegal firmly oriented toward the future is built.
