Press releases - 2026 March 24

On the sidelines of his official visit to the Kingdom of Spain, the President of the Republic, His Excellency Bassirou Diomaye Faye, met on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, with the Senegalese community living in the country.
This meeting took place in a context marked by concrete progress in addressing the concerns of our compatriots. The time required to issue passports has been significantly reduced, from several months to approximately one week. A special mechanism has also been put in place to facilitate access to administrative documents for individuals eligible for regularization.
In the same spirit, a dedicated desk for Spain has been established in Dakar to accelerate the processing of applications, while a special mission from the Ministry of the Interior, focused on passport production, will be deployed to Spain in the coming days.
These advances will be strengthened by new structuring initiatives, including the pilot rollout of the e-consulate, as well as the launch of innovative measures for the benefit of the diaspora.
Through these actions, the State of Senegal reaffirms its commitment to providing concrete, swift, and sustainable solutions to meet the expectations of its citizens abroad.
