International - 2026 May 11

President Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye received Mr. Thierry Déau, Chairman of Meridiam, this morning in Nairobi. A leading investor in sustainable infrastructure in Senegal, the group is supporting, alongside the Sovereign Fund for Strategic Investments in particular, several projects that are making a tangible difference in the country.

These commitments are already having a significant impact on the daily lives of Senegalese citizens. The Dakar Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system, for which Meridiam is the main private partner, represents a total investment of more than CFA 300 billion and is transforming mobility for hundreds of thousands of users. In the energy sector, the Santhiou Mékhé and Ten Mérina solar power plants, with a combined capacity of sixty megawatts, are strengthening the national electricity mix and supporting the country’s transition toward cleaner energy.

The meeting provided an opportunity to explore ways to further deepen this partnership through new strategic projects aligned with the priorities of Senegal Vision 2050.
