The President of the Republic, His Excellency Bassirou Diomaye Faye, performed the Eid al-Fitr prayer this Saturday, March 21, 2026, at the Grand Mosque of Dakar, in the presence of numerous officials and members of the diplomatic corps.
Led by the Grand Imam of the Grand Mosque of Dakar, El Hadji Alioune Moussa Samb, the prayer marked the end of the blessed month of Ramadan, a time of reflection, devotion, and solidarity.
At the end of the prayer, the Head of State praised the religious fervor and spirit of sharing demonstrated by Senegalese men and women throughout the holy month. He called on everyone to preserve, beyond Ramadan, the values of solidarity, fraternity, and social cohesion that underpin our living together.
The President of the Republic also paid tribute to religious and traditional authorities for their constant contribution to social stability, the preservation of national values, and the strengthening of national unity.
Furthermore, the Head of State expressed his deepest condolences to the bereaved families, as well as to the entire Nation, following the loss of soldiers in the southern part of the country.
