After a morning marked by a series of meetings, the President of the Republic, His Excellency Bassirou Diomaye Faye, participated today in the official ceremony of the 9th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD 9), held in Yokohama.
During the first plenary session, dedicated to peace and security, the Head of State emphasized the urgent need for predictable and sustainable funding for peacekeeping operations in Africa. He also advocated for a reform of multilateralism to promote fairer and more representative international governance, as well as stronger alignment between peace, security, and development.
President Faye further highlighted the necessity of investing in infrastructure, education, training, and innovation, which he described as essential pillars of inclusive and sustainable growth.
Finally, he presented Senegal’s strategic vision through the Senegal 2050 National Transformation Agenda and invited international partners to participate in the Invest in Senegal Forum, scheduled to take place in Dakar on October 7 and 8, 2025.
