In Accra, President of the Republic Bassirou Diomaye Faye took part in the High-Level Consultative Conference on the next steps for the implementation of United Nations Resolution 80/250 on the Transatlantic Slave Trade.
Addressing Heads of State and Government, ministers, legal experts, academics, and representatives of regional and international organizations gathered in the Ghanaian capital, the Head of State welcomed what he described as a major step forward for universal conscience.
He emphasized that this historic resolution must not remain merely symbolic, but should mark the beginning of a new phase grounded in truth, remembrance, justice, and shared responsibility.
President Bassirou Diomaye Faye stressed that reparatory justice is not a process directed against anyone; rather, it is a moral and historical imperative aimed at fostering a fairer, more balanced, and more humane international order.
True to its tradition of being deeply rooted while remaining open to the world, Senegal reaffirmed its readiness to play a full role in this collective endeavor, alongside Africa, its diaspora, and all partners committed to recognition, reconciliation, and human dignity.
