Flooding of the Senegal and Gambia Rivers: President FAYE visits affected residents.

Today, President Bassirou Diomaye Faye visited Bakel to express his solidarity with families affected by recent floods. These floods have impacted over 55,600 people in the regions of Matam, Saint-Louis, Tambacounda, and Bakel, destroying homes and inundating more than 1,002 hectares of agricultural land.

In response, the government allocated 8 billion CFA francs for immediate aid and provided food and essential supplies. A Level 1 military hospital is offering free consultations to victims, while security patrols ensure their protection. The President reiterated his call for resilience and national unity during these challenging times.
