Before leaving Ziguinchor, the President of the Republic held a meeting with representatives from the chambers of commerce, the tourism sector, and the handicraft industry to discuss the region’s economic challenges and prospects for recovery.
The discussions focused on the constraints affecting handicrafts and tourism, notably the lack of financing, infrastructure needs, the decline in tourist activity, and transport difficulties.
The Head of State praised the strategic role of economic actors and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting the recovery through agricultural projects, storage infrastructure, improvements to the road network, maintaining Ziguinchor’s status as an international airport, developing river and maritime transport, and establishing a low-cost airline.
This meeting reflects a clear determination to open up Casamance and create the conditions for sustainable and inclusive economic recovery.
