Diamniadio: Senegal inaugurates its first tactical military vehicle assembly plant.

Press releases - 2025 December 16

On Tuesday in Diamniadio, the President of the Republic inaugurated the ISEVEM plant for the assembly of tactical military vehicles, marking a historic milestone in the development of a national defense industry.

Through this structuring project, the Senegalese State is laying the foundations for a clear industrial and technological sovereignty, reducing external dependence while strengthening the strategic autonomy of its defense and security forces.

Driven by a rigorous public–private partnership between the State and ISEVEM, this industrial infrastructure is part of a gradual and realistic vision: to develop local capacities for assembly and maintenance and, in the long term, for the design and production of defense equipment.

Beyond the security dimension, this plant represents a major lever for industrialization, the creation of skilled jobs, the transfer of expertise, and the integration of national talent particularly young people into high value-added sectors.

By inaugurating this first plant, Senegal clearly affirms its commitment to building a resilient, innovative, and sovereign defense industry, in the service of national security, economic development, and social cohesion.
