Press releases - 2026 March 01

The President of the Republic visited the construction sites of the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games this morning to assess the progress of the works.
This visit follows his previous inspection on November 2, during which the Head of State set specific targets under the supervision of the Ministry of Infrastructure, announcing that he would personally return to evaluate their implementation.
The progress achieved is significant. The President said he feels more reassured than after his first visit. However, he emphasized that no complacency will be tolerated, especially as the rainy season approaches, bringing potential risks that could affect the pace of the works. Anticipation and discipline therefore remain essential.
The State is fully assuming its responsibility by providing the necessary resources to ensure the swift execution of the projects. The companies had announced that the infrastructure would be delivered in March; they are now called upon to intensify their efforts to strictly meet these deadlines.
Beyond the sporting event, the stakes are strategic, as Dakar 2026 will be more than just Games for Senegal. It is Africa that hosts, and Dakar that celebrates. The credibility and image of our country are at stake.
In addition to the infrastructure dedicated to the Youth Olympic Games, the President also visited the construction site of the National Oncology Center in Diamniadio.
