The Head of State, His Excellency Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar FAYE, chaired the weekly meeting of the Council of Ministers at the Palais de la République on Wednesday June 26, 2024.
The President of the Republic began his address by extending his best wishes to the Council on the occasion of Tabaski.
He congratulated the Government on all the measures and arrangements it had taken to ensure that the Tabaski celebrations ran smoothly throughout the country.
The Head of State welcomed the application, as of June 24 2024, of lower prices for certain everyday consumer products and services. He noted the major budgetary efforts made by the Government to ensure this significant reduction.
The President of the Republic asked the Government to continue consultations with all the economic players involved, millers and shopkeepers in particular, with a view to rigorously applying the approved product prices throughout the country.
The President of the Republic asked the Prime Minister to work on drafting a law on economic sovereignty in order to better protect companies in strategic sectors, and to give the Government a more sustained right of oversight over any changes in capital.
The Head of State told the Prime Minister of the need to speed up the local transformation of products and services.
