Press releases - 2025 June 04
The President of the Republic, His Excellency Mr. Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye, welcomed the closure of the National Dialogue on the Political System, held from May 28 to June 4, 2025.
At the initiative of the Head of State, this major democratic event brought together the nation’s vital forces, representatives of institutions, political parties, civil society organizations, academics, and committed citizens in a spirit of responsibility, transcendence, and mutual listening, united around republican values.
This dialogue, both rich, rigorous, and at times passionate, allowed for a clear identification of the limitations of our current institutional framework and outlined the contours of ambitious reforms. These proposals pave the way for more modern, transparent, and effective political governance.
The President of the Republic expressed his deep gratitude to all participants for their commitment, republican spirit, and dedication to the general interest. He also extended his thanks to the organizers, experts, and facilitator for the quality of their work.
This republican moment, driven by dialogue and consultation, marks a historic milestone in Senegal’s democratic life. It aligns with a clear vision: to reshape our institutions to meet the demands of sovereignty, justice, and citizen participation.
The Head of State emphasized that the National Dialogue should not be a one-off event but an ongoing process, as a vibrant democracy is built through exchange, adaptation, and collective action.
