At the UN, the President denounces “ethnic cleansing” in Gaza

International - 2025 September 22

At the high-level conference on the Palestinian question, held on the sidelines of the 80th United Nations General Assembly, the President of the Republic delivered a powerful and unequivocal speech.

He condemned the unbearable tragedy unfolding in Gaza, describing it as “ethnic cleansing of indescribable proportions,” and reminded the audience that remaining silent in the face of inhumanity amounts to passive complicity.

The Head of State reaffirmed Senegal’s longstanding position: to end the occupation, establish an immediate ceasefire, ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid, and bring to life the two-state solution, the only path to lasting peace, justice, and security.

In his capacity as Chair of the Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People, he issued a call to the universal conscience: “Defending Palestine is not about choosing sides, it is about defending life, justice, and our shared humanity.”
