International - 2026 May 12

Presidents Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye and Duma Boko held talks early this afternoon on the sidelines of the Africa Forward Summit.

The two Heads of State welcomed the quality of relations between Senegal and Botswana, marked by a spirit of fraternity, and expressed their shared determination to significantly elevate them, particularly through a substantial increase in trade and exchanges.

Over the decades, Botswana has established itself as an African benchmark in the transparent management of mining resources in support of national development. Senegal intends to draw valuable lessons from this experience, in line with the approach led by the Head of State to make the valorization of natural resources a genuine driver of transformation for the benefit of the Senegalese people.

Technical teams from both sides are expected to begin work soon to identify additional areas of cooperation, which could lead to the signing of memoranda of understanding.
