An intense diplomatic morning for President Bassirou Diomaye Faye in Seville

On Tuesday, July 1, 2025, on the sidelines of the 4th United Nations Conference on Financing for Development, His Excellency Mr. Bassirou Diomaye Faye had a particularly busy diplomatic morning in Seville.

The Head of State first participated in a high-level roundtable organized by the Government of the Kingdom of Spain on the theme: “Investing in International Solidarity: A New Vision for Development Cooperation.” In his address, the President of the Republic advocated for a reform of cooperation frameworks, centered on innovative financing mechanisms, more equitable multilateralism, and renewed commitment to the most vulnerable countries. He also emphasized the imperative of placing peace, solidarity, and inclusion at the heart of international priorities.

Following this session, His Excellency the President of the Republic was received in an audience by the President of the Spanish Government, Mr. Pedro Sánchez. Their discussions focused on the state and prospects of bilateral relations between Senegal and Spain, with particular emphasis on cooperation in strategic areas such as agriculture, migration management, sustainable investments, and regional stability.

Finally, the President of the Republic granted an audience to a delegation from the Open Society Foundations. The exchanges addressed the initiatives implemented in Senegal and the prospects for strengthening the partnership in a dynamic of inclusive development oriented toward the needs of the population.
