Abidjan: President Faye meets with the U.S. Deputy Secretary of State for Economic Affairs.

On the sidelines of the inauguration ceremony of President Alassane Ouattara, the President of the Republic granted an audience this afternoon in Abidjan to Mr. Jacob Helberg, U.S. Deputy Secretary of State for Economic Affairs.

Their discussions focused on prospects for collaboration in key sectors: energy, digital technology, industry, agriculture, as well as peace and security.
The President and his counterpart emphasized that addressing global security challenges must include economic solutions: youth training and employment, ethical exploitation of natural resources, and balanced partnerships that benefit local populations.
President Bassirou Diomaye Faye presented several of Senegal’s priority projects to his guest, who reaffirmed the United States’ interest in strengthening dynamic and mutually beneficial cooperation.
