15th Conference of Heads of State and Government of the CPLP: President Faye Calls for Collective Mobilization in Support of Sustainable Agricultural Transformation

At the invitation of His Excellency Mr. Umaro Sissoco Embaló, President of the Republic of Guinea-Bissau, His Excellency Mr. Bassirou Diomaye Faye, President of the Republic of Senegal, participated this morning in Bissau in the proceedings of the 15th Conference of Heads of State and Government of the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP), as a guest of honor.

In his address to the assembly, the President of the Republic highlighted the deep historical, cultural, and fraternal ties that unite Senegal and Guinea-Bissau, while expressing his appreciation for the CPLP’s openness to broader partnerships based on cooperation and solidarity. His Excellency reaffirmed Senegal’s commitment to strengthening its relations with CPLP member states, particularly in the areas of culture, education, trade, and agriculture, within a framework of mutually beneficial partnership.

Addressing the strategic issue of food sovereignty, President Faye called for collective mobilization in support of the sustainable transformation of the agricultural sector. He emphasized the importance of innovation, the valorization of land resources, the development of market infrastructure, and support for small-scale producers, particularly women and youth.

Finally, His Excellency presented the key pillars of the Senegal 2050 Vision, in which agriculture is a fundamental driver of national development. He reiterated Senegal’s commitment to actively contributing to food security on the African continent and globally, in a spirit of shared responsibility and international cooperation.
