Opening ceremony of the Global Fund 5th Replenishment Conference to fight against AIDS

The Global Fund 5th Replenishment Conference to fight AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria held its opening Friday, September 16th in Montreal. $13 billion USD are to be mobilized for the 2017-2019 period.

The global community calls for a synergy of efforts to deal with these pandemics. President Macky Sall has, in his address to the donors, emphasized the results achieved by Senegal with its health strategy. 

Bilateral meetings with Canadian authorities

The Head of State met with the Canadian Prime Minister, Mr. Justin Trudeau. The two leaders also discussed the strengthening of bilateral relations.

The President of the Republic also granted a series of hearings to Canadian authorities including Sylvie De Serres, Executive Director of the Financière Agricole du Québec - International Development (FADQDI) and former Quebec Premier, Jean Charest.

The private sector, mining companies, and stakeholders in the agricultural sector have all shown keen interest in Senegal. 

Meeting with Bill Gates

The Head of State held a hearing with Bill Gates, who has pledged to increase his contribution to the replenishment of resources for the fight against AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria. He also reiterated his willingness to work with Senegal.
